Switzerland is famous for its nature, watch, army knife and chocolate. It is interesting that they combine flower and clock together and make flower clock. The one in Geneva along the lakefront is Jardin Anglais. I found a couple of things which are associate to the clocks, the mountain railways and travel route informations. I will show the pictures in the section of "Lucerne". |
The Jet d'eau fountain in Geneva is another sightseeing. According to the introduction of the fountain, the height of the jet is an incredible 140m, with 500 litres of water forced out of the nozzle every second at about 200kph. Each drop takes sixteen seconds to complete the round-trip from nozzle to lake and, on windy days, the plume can rapidly drench the surroundings (they tend to turn it off if the wind picks up). |
But I think the Lake Geneva itself is more beautiful. When we bought the Swiss Pass at the rail station "Gare de Cornavin", the people at the information desk arranged a route for us. The tourist information offices are so helpful in Switzerland. You can find them at every rail station and get all information what you want. We took a train from Geneva to Lausanne, then by boat to Montreux and train to Interlaken again. You can go by boat from Geneva to Montreux if you have enough time (about 5 hours), but I'd like to balance the speed and scenery. It turned out that one and half hour trip by boat was enough. |
