Day 2: 4e, 5e & 6e

It was a long day walk tour. Walking from Square Louis XIII (Place des Vosges) to south, we arrived at Rue St. Antoine. This is a lively road with lots of restaurants. Turn right (west direction), it is the old building "Hotel Sully".

We continued walking west till the Metro St. Paul (there is Church St Paul-St Louis on the road) and turned left to Rue de Fourcy(south direction).
We arrived at the Seine in a couple of minutes. Acrossing the brideg "Pont Marie", we were at the small island "Ile St. Louis". There are three roads: Quai d'anjou (Northest), Rue St. Louis Ile (Middle) and Quai de Bethune (Southest) paralleled the Seine river. We walked through these three roads by walking from Quai d'anjou to Quai de Bethune along the edge of the island, then went to Rue St. Louis Ile when we arrived at another bridge (Pont de La Tournelle) which is at the south part of the island. The Rue St. Louis is full of stores but peaceful, there is a hotel on this road at the cross of Rue Le Regattier. I think it is wonderful to stay in this center area for short term.
Almost all the houses in Ile St. Louis are old buildings. They are decorated by flowers or by statuary on the top of the doors.  House in Ile St. Louis

To th west of island Ile St. Louis is Ile de la Cite where was the first settlement in Paris around the 3rd century BC and later the Roman town of Lutetia. The bridge "Pont St. Louis" connected the two islands. There are many landmarks here. At the end of the bridge is Rue du Cloitre Notre Dame, the most famous Cathedral, Our Lady of Paris (Notre Dame) greeted us.

Hotel Dieu Hotel Dieu, the oldest hospital in Paris. It is beautiful and peaceful. If you are tired of the crowd people in the square in front of Notre Dame, why not come here and have a rest? It is northwest of the Cathedral, a couple of minutes by walk.
It started rain and the lunch time was over, so we went south from Ile Cite to the left bank of the Seine. We walked along cross the bridge "Pont Au Double" to Rue Lagrange, then turned right to Rue Gaiaude. It seemed on the map that there is a church near here and we'd like to have a rest in the church. But when we arrived at the Eglise St Julien le Pauvre (a very small church), it was closed. Fortunately, there is another big church named Eglise St. Severin around the corner. After the rain stopped, we continued walking around this small area, it was full of restaurants selling food from all over the world. But we went to MacDonald which is at the cross of Rue de la Harpe and Blvd St Germain. During all the days in Paris, we liked to go MacDonald, because you can always go to their restroom even when you don't buy food. I have tried one Caffe bar for using toilet because the auto-toilet nearby didn't work, but the boss wanted us to buy a cup of kaffe before I used their toilet. It is not easy to find MacDonald in Paris, I thought I should recommend the MacDonald to distribute a map of their stores all over the Paris. :-) In the rest days, we went manys time to MacDonald because of the above reason and its fixed rate all over the world.

After the late lunch, we turned back to the Ile Cite. We would go to climb the tower of Notre Dame.

After the tour of Notre Dame, we went to Latin Quarter. But it was late and the Chapelle de la Sorbonne was closed at that time. We went to Pantheon instead and visited the Rue Pierre et Marie Curie. We thought that few people would come to this remote area. But the story of Marie Curie attracted us here.

After we found the Rue Pierre et Marie Curie ultimately, we went back to home.

Rue de Rivoli, the way back home, it is west of Rue St Antoine. We had been on these two lively roads a couple of times in the rest days.  Rue de Rivoli
