In July 2004, Jiangping and I went to Paris by Ryanair Airline. We have heard so much about this low-price airline before.
When we plan travelling Paris, we start checking the price online frequently.
If you book a month before your trip, you can usually get very cheap tickets. But sometimes the price drops very close to the depature date.
We planed visite Paris and Italy at first, but the price between Italy and Sweden was expensive.
A friend recommended us to visit Switzerland after Paris because Paris is famous for its culture and history while Switzerland is famous for its great nature.
After we booked the tickets back from Paris to Sweden, the price from Rome or Milan to Stockholm droped.
But we are happy that we went two countries with different characters.
When travel with Ryanair airline, you should consider other fees such as tax, administration fees, especially the cost of buses between the airports and cities where you want to go. Ryanair uses small airports which are far away from big cities, for example, the airport in Sweden is in Nykoping which is 80 minutes by bus from Stockholm. Actually it takes 90 minutes (almost the same distance as from Stockholm) by bus from this airport to the Linkoping city where I live. Flygbussarna serves an airport coach which is convenient to take between buss terminal in Linkoping and Skavsta Airport. You can check all informaiton of destinations in the Ryanair web-site. |
We stayed in a private apartment in Paris for 6 nights. The location is very near the center and we can walk to many sighseeings.
Many people tald me that the location is not important because Paris has excellent metro system.
But after I finish visiting Paris, I have to say that good location is important because it helps you learn Paris more in limited time.
We took book "France" by LonelyPlanet with us, but forgot to take the book "Paris" by Fodors. There is walk route in detail in the book of Fodor's. Anyway, we walked a lot by ourselves according to the mark of places in lonelyplanet's book. |
Paris is divided into 20'th arrondissements (districts), which spiral out clockwise from the centre of the city.
When an address includes the full five digit postal code, the last two digits indicate the arrondissement: 75001 for the 1st, 75011 for the 11th etc.
Some landmarkds are in the same districts or the neighbourhood. We walked the main districts in the center, from 1er to 8e (right and left bank) and 18e (Sacre Coeur). |
