Current research projects:

  • Eukaryotic genomic origins, parasites, and the essential nature of mitochondria - funded by the European Research Council (2011-2015), with Prof Martin Embley (Institute for Cell and Molecular Bioscience), Dr Tom Nye and others.
  • Bayesian inference for stochastic differential mixed-effects models - Gavin Whittaker, PhD student (2011-14), jointly supervised with Dr Andrew Golightly
  • Probability and kinetics of inclusion formation - Nina Wilkinson, BBSRC DTG funded PhD student (2011-14), jointly supervised with Prof Doug Gray (Institute for Ageing and Health) and Dr Colin Gillespie
  • Modelling gene tree heterogeneity in phylogenetic inference - Rute Vieira, Portugese FCT funded PhD student (2010-14), jointly supervised with Dr Tom Nye
