Week 11: Binary data, including the c² test

Aims
To understand what a binary variable is and how its statistical analysis differs from that for a Normal variable.

Objectives

To appreciate, in general terms, how the measurement of variation is different for a binary variable.

To understand how to summarise a  binary variable

To know what a c² test does and how to apply one in Minitab

• Study the document An Introduction to Binary Data which is in the Learning Materials folder.  This explains the ideas behind this test.
• Attempt the questions in Exercise Sheet 1, found in the Formative Assessment Activities folder.
• You should check your answers by referring to the Solutions to Exercise Sheet 1 in the same folder
