Research

My research is mainly in geophysical and astrophysical fluid dynamics and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), but I've recently also become involved in the mathematical modelling of the development of the Neolithic.

Teaching

MAS2104/3104: Introduction to Vector Calculus (Semester 1).
SVY2011: Survey mathematics (Semester 1).

I supervise (or co-supervise) two PhD Students: Fred Gent and David Ryan. Three students I've supervised (or co-supervised) have completed PhDs: Alhashmi Darah (2005), Kate Davison (2008) and Apichat Neamvonk (2009).

I also supervise two students for the MMath Stage 4 project (MAS8091): Matthew Seiboth and Amy Wrigley.

Administration

My administrative duties are:

Chair of the School Board of Examiners.
Member of the School Teaching and Learning Committee.
Member of the School Equipment and Estate Committee.
