I have been in Sweden for two years (2003-2005). It is a very nice experience. I list some useful links for living in Sweden.
I also have some beautiful pictures taken in Sweden.
Swedish Migration Board Where you apply for visa or residence permit, work permit before you leave for Sweden. You also renew your resident permit and work permit here.
Sweden tax-office
("Skatteverket" in Swedish) The first place you should go after you arrive at Sweden if you have at least one year residence permit.
Here you can apply for personal identity number and be entitled to housing-based social insuracne, such as allowance for medical expenses.
You will also need to order "personbevis" (Certification of your information in Sweden, including your birthday, home address, family members, etc) from this tax office. You can go to website of Tax office and click "Folkbokföring" in the left menu, select "Personbevis" in the downlist. Whithin this page, under the sub-title "Beställ för postleverans", click the link "Till Beställningstjänsten" (you can click here, but this link may be unvalid in the future). In the new appeared "Beställningstjänsten" page, click the menu "Personbevis", here you can select which kind of format you need. If you don't know which kind of format you need, just go to the bottom of this page, select "Utdrag om folkbokföringsuppgifter". Forturnately, you can order "personbevis" in English version by select "Utdrag om folkbokföringsuppgifter - engelsk text". After you click "Beställ" button, you will be asked to enter "personnummer" (ID number), you can also select the number of copies. You can click "Tillbaka" button to go back to order other "personbevis" for different format or different person. After the process is finished, the "personbevis" will be sent to your registered home address.
Swedish Integration Board A good start upon your arrival in Sweden. They have a good book "Sweden --- a pocket guide" which introduces how to start to know Sweden and basic knowledge on living in Sweden. It is excellent for new arrivals.
You will receive one in Swedish after you registered in Swedish tax office, but you can order an English version.
Regional Social Insurance Offices
Download Social Insurance, one brochure which gives general information.
